Staff Accountant – Bellevue

Hours: 40/week; M-F

Pay: $22-$25 /hour

Class: Non-Exempt

Location: Bellevue, WA

Purpose

Provide general accounting functions with focus on Monthly Close and Accounts Receivable.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

General Accounting Functions

  • Process all cash receipts including deposits and electronic fund transfers
  • Review and code cash receipts
  • Assist with answering staff inquiries
  • Assist with quarterly reconciliations
  • Manage petty cash
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Investment Schedule
  • Monthly contribution reconciliation
  • Reconcile pledge receivables
  • Monthly prepaids
  • Depreciation Schedule
  • Monthly revenue entries
  • Maintain monthly revenue subledger
  • Occupancy entry
  • Preschool reconciliation
  • AP reconciliation
  • Assists with preparation of materials for audits
  • File, maintain, and create accounting records
  • Cross train with Assistant Accountant on processing checks and staff reimbursements
  • Provide project assistance
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent to appropriate 4-year college program in accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting with proven knowledge of reconciliations and AR.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and accounting software
  • Experience in non-profit organizations preferred
  • 10-Key by touch preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains preferred
  • Experience working with diverse populations; Bilingual preferred
  • A fundamental understanding of current issues and challenges facing individuals from under-served communities including sensitivity to racial equity/diversity

Minimum Prerequisites

  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed records
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
  • Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Possess valid Washington State driver’s license and valid automobile insurance
  • Have access to a dependable personal vehicle
  • Be able to lift 40 pounds (average three-year-old)
  • Pass tuberculosis test
