14th Annual Salute to Courage Luncheon | 2019 Recap

2019 Salute to Courage Luncheon Raises $355,000 for Our Kids

Kindering’s 14th annual Salute to Courage benefit luncheon was chaired by Shaiza Damji and Alif Nurani, and included a moving keynote address by Seattle Children’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Jeff Sperring. Current and former Kindering parents shared their journeys from fear to pride as they spoke of the strides their children have made toward their developmental goals. Luncheon guests were inspired to generously donate more than $355,000 for Kindering’s programs.

In advance of the luncheon, Dr. Sperring, chose two books for prereading, Make Your Bed by Admiral William McRaven and Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae. He then drew connections in his speech from both books, as well as his personal experience caring for children, about the importance of working together through challenges so that every child has the opportunity to follow their dreams.

The inspiring event was attended by a diverse group of philanthropists, community leaders, and elected officials all united in one common cause: to provide life-changing support to children and families when they need it most.
