KidsClinic: Feeding and Nutrition
All children need to eat, but for some the task of eating by mouth is problematic. If your child has a limited range of flavors, textures, or types of foods that they will eat, they may be a good candidate for Kindering’s trans-disciplinary program for assessing and treating children with feeding difficulties. Our feeding therapy program integrates sensory, motor, oral, behavioral/learning, medical, and nutritional factors in order to comprehensively evaluate and treat children with feeding problems.
We provide assessment and support in the following areas:
- Oral motor skills
- Food aversions
- Feeding habits
- Food intake and growth
- Developmental status
- Behavior concerns
- Psycho-social issues that impact feeding and nutrition
Evaluations
For parents/caregivers with concerns about feeding, your child can be evaluated as part of a comprehensive evaluation by our trans-disciplinary team that addresses all areas of development.ย
We offer individualized therapy for a single child and their caregivers as well as groups of 4 children and their parents:
- Children will learn to explore foods in a safe and fun way to increase the variety and amount of foods they can eat
- Parents/caregivers will learn useful information about increasing their childโs interest in different textures, successful mealtime routines, nutrition for children, ideas for food play, how to select new foods to offer their children, and how to problem solve around mealtimes
