KidsClinic: Physical Therapy

Our skilled physical therapists work with you and your child to improve general strength, balance, mobility and coordination.  It is our goal to enhance your child’s overall motor and self-help skills.  Therapists evaluate current motor skills through formal assessment, clinical observation, and parent report.  As part of a comprehensive therapy plan, therapists provide support services that are based in play and incorporate your family’s daily activities.  Specialized equipment may also be used to support a child’s development, as needed.

Areas of physical activity that can be targeted by a physical therapist include:

  • Gross motor developmental testing
  • Motor skill development and application to natural settings
  • Coordination and balance development
  • Strength and endurance development
  • Neurodevelopmental movement progressions
  • Complex medical condition management like:
    • Spasticity management
    • Bracing management
    • Equipment/wheelchair management
    • Positioning
    • Transfer training for caregivers
    • Functional skill independence.
  • Inclusive play like preparation for adaptive sports and mobility or adaptation for increased joy and time in the community
  • Toe walking and other gait deviations
  • Injury recovery
